We at FFR, Inc. were honored to sponsor and attend the 6th Annual Convoy of Champions, hosted by the Massachusetts Ambulance Association on Tuesday, May 19. This event takes place during National EMS Week to recognize and celebrate EMS workers for their hard work and lifesaving care.

The event began at UMass Memorial Medical Center, where the procession of ambulances set off from in the morning. They ended the convoy at Hanscom Field, where Boston Medflight is located. Event attendees gathered at Boston Medflight to watch the ambulances drive in, each one from a different Massachusetts EMS company. After the convoy arrived, attendees enjoyed lunch inside the hangar, sponsored by FFR.

The main events, however, were the guest speaker, Convoy Awards, and Circle of Excellence Awards. All were emceed by Dennis Cataldo, President of the Massachusetts Ambulance Association. After greetings from him and Mara Hughes, CEO of Boston Medflight, Massachusetts Senator Michael Moore spoke. He expressed his admiration for the work that EMS personnel do and discussed Bill S.799, a legislative bill he’s championing to protect patients from surprise bills related to EMS care.

The convoy awards were presented by Richard Raymond, President and CEO of Armstrong Ambulance Service. He presented the awards to representatives from many area ambulance companies, recognizing their service.

The anticipated Circle of Excellence Awards were presented by Dennis Cataldo, as well as Karen Host and Meredith Lambroff-Brown. EMTS and paramedics were awarded for their service and care in difficult, high-pressure situations. One story described a small, understaffed hospital to which two EMTs from County Ambulance Service brought a patient experiencing cardiac arrest. While handing over the patient, a different patient in pediatrics also suffered cardiac arrest. Rather than leave as originally planned, the two EMTs stayed, took control of the scene, and saved both patients. These and other inspiring stories were told as each EMT received their award.

The 2026 Convoy of Champions was a powerful reminder of the dedication, courage, and compassion demonstrated by EMS professionals across Massachusetts every day. FFR, Inc. was proud to support an event that not only celebrated these extraordinary individuals, but also highlighted the critical role they play in protecting and saving lives in our communities. We extend our congratulations to all award recipients and our sincere gratitude to every EMS worker for their unwavering commitment to patient care.
